Every year I give dozens of brain talks to a wide variety of audiences including for professionals across many different business sectors, members of the general public at science festivals and book promotions, and educators who work with children of all ages. I always make myself available afterwards to answer questions and usually end up doing so for longer than I spend actually giving the talk. Over the past decade it has become abundantly clear that people have become increasingly concerned about the impact of technology on a person’s own brain and, in particular, those of their children.

A petition has been lodged with the UK parliament to consider banning smartphones for all under 16s on the basis of the suffering it has caused many young people over the past decade or so. Would you support a ban on smartphones on all under 16s? Or is that going too far? Let me know what you think on X (formerly known as Twitter) @drjacklewis
